HEIDELBERG, GERMANY. SEPTEMBER 16, 1986.

Ian Harding was born in Heidelberg, Germany, the youngest child of a military family. A few years later, the family moved, settling in northern Virginia. Ian excelled in such activities as soccer and basketball, later joining the It's been said that Ian joined the club because it was the only coed activity at his all-male preparatory school.drama club and it was through this club that Ian discovered a new passion, and one that he continued to pursue at the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University.

Ian’s theater background includes roles in such productions as “The Other Shore” and “The London Cuckolds.”

Harding’s most notable role to date, however, is that of Ezra Fitz; a fan favorite in the hit ABC Family series “Pretty Little Liars.” The shows third season is currently Production began April, 2012.in production. The role is a juicy one for Ian; with the shows first season introducing viewers to Rosewood’s Mr. Fitz – an English teacher who takes a more than scholarly interest in one of his students, Aria Montgomery.

Other credits include an episode of televisions Episode 1x15.“NCIS: Los Angeles” along with his involvement in popular webseries such as “F-#% Me Robert Pattinson” and “Hollywood is Like High School with Money.”

Do my methods vary? Yes and no. (Before I go any further I’d like to say that I’m still learning so take what I say with a grain of salt!) I’ll go into this more with the next question, but film and theater need different methods of preparation. Regarding my work in the film realm, every script is a new challenge, a new mystery to be solved, so preparation varies from piece to piece. I have a whole slew of questions that I ask myself and of the script, that I would go more into if I had fifty more pages available to write! That being said, there are a few things that I do for every part, something as simple as, what happened before this? What’s the conflict in this scene? What do I need?

Challenging. Risky. Difficult. Different roles, different mediums.

“I want to do things that challenge me, and often that’s a character or piece that is new/difficult/risky. That’s what I want to do, I don’t want to simply so some variation of a character I’ve played before over and over. I’ve passed on a few things recently that wouldn’t really broaden my horizons, and that’s scary for me because I want to work, but ultimately I want a long, diverse career, and that may involve great periods of searching for the next project.”
